Mahindra has officially launched the XEV 9e, an all-electric coupe-SUV in India, with a starting price of Rs 21.90 lakh(ex-showroom) for the entry-level variant. This launch, which took place on November 26, 2024, marks a significant step for the Indian automaker in the electric vehicle market, alongside the introduction of its sibling model, the BE 6e, priced from Rs 18.90 lakh.
The XEV 9e features a sleek coupe-like design with aggressive styling elements, including triangular headlights and a full-width LED light bar. The vehicle offers substantial storage space with a 665-litre boot and a 150-litre frunk which measures 4,790 mm in length, 1,905 mm in width, and 1,690 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,775 mm and a ground clearance of 207 mm.
The SUV is available with two battery options: a 59 kWh pack that delivers 231 bhp and a more powerful 79 kWh pack producing 286 bhp. The larger battery provides an MIDC range of 656 kms, while real-world tests indicate it can exceed 500 kms on a single charge. Notably, it can be charged from 20% to 80% in just 20 min using a 175 kW DC fast charger.
Inside, the XEV 9e boasts a modern cabin equipped with a unique triple-screen setup featuring three 12.3-inch displays, providing an immersive tech experience. Additional features include a panoramic sunroof, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, wireless connectivity options, and advanced safety features such as Level 2+ ADAS technology, seven airbags, and a 360-degree camera system.
The company has indicated that the pricing announced is introductory, with further details to be revealed in January when the SUV arrives at dealerships with Deliveries for the Mahindra XEV 9e are expected to commence in February or March 2025.
